Installation
You can install all of your LabVIEW products—including the LabVIEW Real-Time Module—using the LabVIEW 2009 Platform DVDs. You can find installation instructions for the Real-Time Module along with activation instructions in the following locations:
LabVIEW Real-Time Module Release and Upgrade Notes, which are available in your LabVIEW Real-Time Module software kit or online at ni.com/manuals.
LabVIEW Release Notes, which are available in your LabVIEW software kit.
LabVIEW 2009 Platform DVDs Readme, which is available on the top-level of LabVIEW Platform DVD 1.
To request additional LabVIEW 2009 Platform DVDs, refer to the National Instruments Web site.
You must install LabVIEW 2009 before you install the LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2009.
Refer to the LabVIEW Real-Time Module Release and Upgrade Notes for more information about upgrade and compatibility issues, a list of new features, and installation instructions. The LabVIEW Real-Time Module Release and Upgrade Notes is included as a printed booklet with the kit. You also can access the LabVIEW Real-Time Module Release and Upgrade Notes by selecting Help»Search the LabVIEW Help in LabVIEW and navigating to the Real-Time Module»Real-Time Module Related Documentation topic on the Contents tab.
Installing and Configuring Japanese Language Support
After you install the LabVIEW Real-Time Module 2009 on your development computer, you can complete the following steps to install and configure Japanese language support on an RT target.
Use the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer to install the Language Support for Japanese software component on the RT target. Refer to the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer Help for information about the LabVIEW Real-Time Software Wizard.
Open the System Settings tab and select Japanese as the Locale.
Installing Language Support for Japanese does not enable Japanese language support within the RT target file system. You cannot use Japanese characters in directory names or file names on the RT target.
Licensing
The LabVIEW Real-Time Module relies on licensing activation. You must activate a valid LabVIEW Real-Time Module license before you can run the LabVIEW Real-Time Module. To activate the LabVIEW Real-Time Module, use the serial number you received as part of your installation package.
Refer to the Activation Instructions for National Instruments Software for more information about licensing activation.
Supported Platforms
The Real-Time Module supports Windows 2000/XP and Windows Vista (32-bit and 64-bit). The Real-Time Module does not support Windows NT/Me/9x.
Real-Time Operating System Versions
The Real-Time Module 2009 installs the following RT target operating systems. Refer to the specific RT target hardware documentation for information about which real-time operating system your RT target uses.
Supported Real-Time Operating System Features
The Real-Time Module supports only a subset of the features that the ETS and VxWorks operating systems support. Refer to the Real-Time Module book on the Contents tab in the LabVIEW Help for information about features that the Real-Time Module supports.
