Overview
The Xilinx compilation tools include tools for Vivado 2021.1, which are supported by the LabVIEW FPGA Module. Install these compilation tools if you want to compile FPGA VIs on a Windows computer. You must install these tools on the FPGA Module development computer if you plan to use the Configure Component-Level IP wizard, configure the IP Integration Node, incorporate Xilinx IP, or use third-party simulation.
The Xilinx compilation tools also support Linux. Refer to the FPGA Module Xilinx Compilation Tools for Linux Readme for more information.
System Requirements
The Xilinx compilation tool for Vivado 2021.1 has the following system requirements:
One of the following operating systems:
15 GB of additional disk space
Memory—Refer to the Xilinx website at www.xilinx.com for memory requirements of different FPGA targets. Failure to meet the target-specific memory requirement may result in unpredictable compilation results.
Note The recommended memory size on the Xilinx website is for one compile job only. If you run multiple compile jobs at a time, the memory requirement increases by multiple times accordingly.
Note After installing the LabVIEW 2022 Q3 FPGA Module Xilinx Compilation Tools, you cannot use any installers built on this computer with any version of LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI™, NI TestStand™, or Measurement Studio on an unsupported OS.
Supported Hardware
Visit Compatibility between Xilinx Compilation Tools and NI FPGA Hardware for the list of NI hardware supported by Xilinx compilation tools for Vivado.
Installation Instructions
NI installs the Xilinx Compilation Tools for Windows using NI Package Manager. If you do not already have NI software installed, the Xilinx Compilation Tools installs NI Package Manager to handle the installation of your NI software. Visit ni.com/r/NIPMDownload to download NI Package Manager. Refer to the NI Package Manager Manual for more information about installing, removing, and upgrading NI software using NI Package Manager.
You can also install the Xilinx Compilation Tools for Windows using the installation media. Depending on the installation media type, you can install the Xilinx Compilation Tools for Windows in either of the following ways:
(USB) Complete the following steps to install the Xilinx Compilation Tools for Windows:
Insert the Xilinx compilation tools installation media.
Navigate to the WindowsVivado2021_1.

Product Security and Critical Updates
Visit ni.com/security to view and subscribe to receive security notifications about NI products. Visit ni.com/critical-updates for information about critical updates from NI.
Automating the Installation of NI Products
You can automate the installation of most NI products using command-line arguments to suppress some or all of the installer user interface and dialog boxes.
If the NI product you are installing uses Microsoft .NET 4.6.2, the .NET installer may run before any NI software installs and may require a reboot before the installation of NI software begins. To avoid a .NET reboot, install .NET 4.6.2 separately before you install NI software.
For more information about automating the installation of NI products, refer to Automating an Installer in the NI Package Manager manual.
Using NI Software with Microsoft Windows 10
For more information about NI support for Windows 10, visit ni.com/windows10.
