LabVIEW 2009 Platform DVDs Readme
With the LabVIEW Platform DVDs, one installation gives you access to nearly all products in the LabVIEW platform. Install modules and toolkits from the DVDs to ensure compatibility with LabVIEW 2009. If you purchased any of these add-ons, install and activate them using the LabVIEW Platform DVDs. If you want to evaluate any of these add-ons before purchasing them, you can install these add-ons from the LabVIEW Platform DVDs and try them for free for 30 days.

Important Information
Supported Operating Systems
You can run the LabVIEW Platform installer on the following operating systems:
Windows Vista, including Windows Vista x64
Windows XP, excluding Windows XP x64
Windows 2000
Note The LabVIEW Platform installer does not support Windows NT/Me/98/95 or any of the Windows Server editions.
Refer to the LabVIEW Release Notes for a complete list of system requirements for the LabVIEW Development System and to the product readmes for additional module and toolkit system requirements.
Refer to the National Instruments Web site for the latest information about and instructions for downloading LabVIEW 2009 (64-bit).
Installing, Evaluating, and Activating LabVIEW
Complete the following steps to install and activate LabVIEW for Windows.
Disable any automatic virus detection programs before you install. Some virus detection programs interfere with installation.
Log on as an administrator or as a user with administrator privileges.
Insert the LabVIEW Platform DVD 1.
In the Product List, select all the products you want to install licensed versions of or that you want to install for evaluation. Select Install to minimize user interaction. Selecting Custom install opens additional dialog boxes that require your input.
Note Some LabVIEW products have additional system requirements. As you select each product in the Product List, verify that the computer on which you are installing meets the additional requirements listed in the description.
Enter serial numbers from the software kits to install licensed versions. Leave the Serial Number field blank to evaluate the product. You can find the serial number on the Certificate of Ownership in the software kit. If your software kit does not include a Certificate of Ownership, you can find the serial number on the product packing slip or on the shipping label.
Note You can use serial numbers from a previous version of a product to install and activate the 2009 version of the product.
Follow the instructions to finish installing and activating LabVIEW and any module or toolkit that you selected.
After installation, enable any virus detection programs you disabled.
To modify the current LabVIEW installation or to uninstall LabVIEW, select National Instruments Software in the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel. When you modify the installation, a list of National Instruments software appears. Select a product in the list to add or remove individual components or to uninstall the product. Select multiple products to remove by pressing the <Shift> or <Ctrl> key while you select each product. Click the Uninstall button to remove all the products you selected.
Installing Another Language Version
If you have another language version of LabVIEW 2009 installed on your computer, uninstall that version before installing the new language version.
Note LabVIEW SignalExpress is a multilingual product that operates in the same language as the system locale for English, French, German, and Japanese. All other system locales default to the English version of LabVIEW SignalExpress. You do not need to uninstall LabVIEW SignalExpress to change languages.
LabVIEW Module and Toolkit Compatibility
Use the LabVIEW Platform DVDs to ensure you install modules and toolkits that are compatible with LabVIEW 2009. If the LabVIEW Platform DVDs do not include the module or toolkit you need, first refer to the LabVIEW Module and Toolkit Compatibility Information page for information about which modules and toolkits are compatible with the current version of LabVIEW. Then install the compatible module or toolkit in the LabVIEW 2009 directory and mass compile any VIs that you saved in previous versions of LabVIEW.
Other toolkit versions might not work with LabVIEW 2009. If you attempt to install incompatible toolkit versions, you might corrupt your LabVIEW 2009 installation. If you install an incompatible version and corrupt your LabVIEW 2009 installation, first uninstall the toolkit and then repair the LabVIEW installation using the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel.
