Overview

The Control Design and Simulation Module provides tools with which you can analyze open-loop model behavior, design closed-loop controllers, simulate online and offline systems, and conduct physical implementations.

System Requirements

In addition to the system requirements for the LabVIEW Development System, the Control Design and Simulation Module has the following requirements:
  • LabVIEW 2013 Full or Professional Development System (32-bit)

  • At least 500 MB additional disk space for Control Design and Simulation Module support

  • (Optional) LabVIEW MathScript RT Module—In LabVIEW 2009, LabVIEW MathScript became the LabVIEW MathScript RT Module. You cannot run VIs from previous versions of LabVIEW that contain MathScript Nodes until you install and activate the MathScript RT Module or remove the MathScript Nodes from the VIs. If you have already purchased the MathScript RT Module, select Help»Activate LabVIEW Components to activate the product.

  • (Optional) SignalExpress—If you plan to install the Control Design Assistant, you first must install SignalExpress.

Refer to the LabVIEW Readme for additional system requirements and supported operating systems for LabVIEW 2013.

Control Design and Simulation Module Updates and Notifications

National Instruments posts information about critical updates and security notifications on ni.com. Visit ni.com/info and enter Info Code updates to access this information.

New FeaturesThe LabVIEW 2013 Control Design and Simulation Module incorporates the following new features:

  • The quality of the BDF solver has been improved. It is now an adaptation of the DASSL solver described in Numerical Solution of Initial Value Problems in Differential-Algebraic Equations, Petzold, Brenan and Campbell., North-Holland, New York, 1989.

  • The CD Continuous Algebraic Riccati Equation and Discrete Algebraic Riccati Equation VIs contain a new verify? parameter, which verifies the correctness of the solution before solving the equation. However, when used in the loop, this might not be necessary. By disabling the verify? parameter, you can increase the execution speed of these VIs.
